Hello list lovers,
Drowned in Sound’s albums of the year list is now live.
Some really special records in there but of the lesser known ones I’d really recommend the Elori Saxl album (Bandcamp) if you’re looking to start the year inside quiet ambient soundscapes with warm bassoons and rhythms that very gently throb. This little warm cave of a record also takes influence from one of the most wonderfully literary reporters of our era, Rebecca Solnit.
Happy new year and all that
PS I do still plan to continue this weekly newsletter with album recommendations and have lots drafted.
It was aimed to be a fun extracurricular project for me alongside my dayjob to keep the DiS flame burning but I didn’t anticipate the impact of changing jobs during another lockdown last year (on a related note: Max Richter and Yulia Mahr’s new film, art and recording studio is soon to be revealed).
